How to Get Anything You Want : General Strategy for Change
This guide is designed to give you a general strategy for making any change you want in your life.
First of all let’s consider the general strategy for change.

In its simplest form you apply resources your present state to move into what you desire. What are resources in this context? Resources can be many things. They can be money, training, education and information, or skills and emotional states that you already possess.
However, even in this simple form one has to be very clear about what the desired state is. We could relabel the desired state as a goal. There is a complete guide on goal setting on the Life Coach in a Box site. In brief a goal has to be stated in positive terms about what it is you desire rather than what it is that you don’t want. This is fully explained in the goal setting guide.
So far this would seem to be straightforward. You identify the resources you need apply them to your present state and you will reach your goal. But, as is commonly the case, there is usually interferences that have prevented you from being successful. These interferences are a kind of internal terrorist. These interferences show up as you try to make progress towards your goal. This is one of the reasons that it is vitally important to clearly identify a goal.
As long as you do not have a clear goal and are not taking any action towards it, then you will not become aware of what is blocking you.

There are are several sections in the goal setting guide and help to identify any possible blocks. One of these I call the ecology check. As you do the ecology check you may well find that you experience some interference. As you think about your goal them may be some “but” statements. An example of a somewhat simplistic statement might be, “I want to lose weight, but I can’t stand the thought of sticking with any diet.” Or, “I want to be rich, but then my friends won’t want to hang around with me anymore.”
Limiting beliefs.
The commonest form of interference is perhaps limiting beliefs. On the Life Coach in a Box site you will find a guide to assist you in identifying any limiting beliefs. There is also a video to assist you in changing any limiting beliefs that you identify.
It’s all in your mind.
Many people believe that what stops them from attaining their goals is some outside force or circumstance. However, many years of working with people to assist them in making changes has convinced me of the truth that we attract our own circumstances. So I would encourage you to have the attitude which says that, “I am completely responsible for everything that is present in my life, whether I like it or not.”
When I say this to people they often interpret it as my saying to them that they are to blame for their situation. In my view blame has absolutely no purpose. Blaming oneself or blaming other people merely perpetuates the present situation. Often people have experienced many adverse events as they grow up which have had an impact on them. They are in no way to blame for what happens to them. However as they are in the present they alone carry with them the results of these events in the form of emotional reactions, beliefs and attitudes. They alone have the power to change these.
You commonly hear the statement, “If it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any luck at all.” However, I say to you that we make and attract our own luck. Our beliefs and attitudes shape our experiences. So when I say “it’s all in the mind” that in my view that is a good thing because we all have the right to change our minds.
Conclusion.
So on this site you will find guides to basic information, reviews of useful resources and articles of interest.
Good luck,
Doctor Dave.
